Short biography

Clementine Gasser was born in Lucerne, Switzerland. She studied first at the Lucerne Conservatoire with Peter Leisegang and then jazz composition at the Vienna Conservatoire from 1999-2002. Her projects and commissioned compositions included co-operation with Jeunesse Musicale, the Austrian Broadcasting Corporation ORF/Ö1 and the Burgtheater in Vienna. Participation in festivals for contemporary and improvised music as well as jazz in Europe and USA.

At the Wiener Sommerseminar für Neue Musik the artist received the International Composition Award both in 2003 and 2004. In 2005 Clementine Gasser received the 'Förderungspreis der Stadt Wien for the category of music' and the 'Förderungspreis für Musik/Komposition (State Award)'. In 2012 she received the 'State Scholarship for Composition' granted by the Austrian Federal Ministry for Education, Arts and Culture. She is living and working in Vienna.

Clementine Gasser was born in Lucerne, Switzerland. Having started cello classes at the age of six, she studied first at the Lucerne Conservatoire with Peter Leisegang and then jazz composition at the Vienna Conservatoire from 1999-2002. She is living and working in Vienna.

Together with the guitarist Peter Lössl Clementine Gasser formed a duo by the name of Wilde Kammermusik; in 1998 they founded their label WKM/Wilde Kammermusik, which has so far released the CDs RUFUS, WHITE and PIONEER 23, featuring mainly own compositions. Her projects and commissioned compositions included co-operation with Jeunesse Musicale, Gerhard Jaschke, Bodo Hell, Gert Jonke, Robert Menasse and ORF/Ö1 as well as Christoph Schlingensief & Patti Smith, Karin Beier and Achim Benning for the Burgtheater in Vienna. Clementine Gasser has also performed at the James Joyce Festival Rejoyce Dublin 2004 and at the Nibelungenfestspiele Worms 2004/05. She collaborated with Wolfgang Mitterer on a project for 5-string cello, organ and electronics, which was first performed in June 2005.

From 2006 to this year 2017 she participated in festivals for contemporary and improvised music as well as jazz in Europe and USA. The musician performs with Mikołaj Trzaska (saxophone, bass clarinet), Michael Zerang (drums/percussion), Elisabeth Harnik (piano), Gianni Mimmo (soprano saxophone), Klaus Falschlunger (sitar) among others. Concerts at Porgy & Bess Vienna, Wiener Konzerthaus, Odeon Wien, ORF-Radio-Kulturhaus Wien. She joined in festivals like Kontraste, Modernistmozart, Kaleidophon, Konfrontationen Nickelsdorf, artacts, Brücken in die Gegenwart, All Frontiers Italy, Lublin Jazz, Umbrella Music Festival Chicago, Taktlos Festival Zurich, 3 Tage Jazz.
